Program Goals

1. To raise the standards of project development work through the project appraisal, evaluation and monitoring of development projects on behalf of funding partners here and abroad. 
2. To create an enabling spaces for convergence of ideas, development issues, and collective analysis of issues in order to articulate innovative and alternative development strategies.  
3. To enhance mutual understanding, respect and people-to-people solidarity relations through development education project partners here and abroad.

The Project Development Accompaniment Services (PDAS) involves the conduct of appraisals or pre-funding assessments of project proposals, monitoring and evaluating programs and services, and other project accompaniment (see previous Accompaniment Services locations below). These services include the following:

Project Pre-Funding Appraisal Services

MAGI provides thorough assessments of project proposals submitted for funding. These appraisals evaluate the project’s strengths and weaknesses based on its concept, relevance, the capacity of the proposing organization, beneficiary involvement in planning and design, strategies, methodologies, and budget. The final output is a detailed, pre-validated report that highlights key findings and offers recommendations to address any identified weaknesses. While MAGI may propose approval, disapproval, or revision of the project based on its merit, the ultimate decision rests with the requesting funding agency. Please note that re-planning facilitation is not included in this service but can be offered separately.

Project Monitoring Services

MAGI’s project monitoring services focus on assessing ongoing projects to ensure they are achieving their intended outcomes. This includes analyzing the project’s objectives in light of any changes in context and working with the project team to address challenges. The service results in a pre-validated report with practical recommendations for improving strategies, revising objectives if necessary, and addressing difficulties. In special cases, MAGI provides accompaniment activities to help organizations enhance staff skills, improve service delivery, and strengthen internal controls and processes for better efficiency.

Project External Evaluation

MAGI conducts comprehensive evaluations of completed or ongoing projects, focusing on aspects such as impact, relevance, efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability. These evaluations identify the strengths and weaknesses of the implementing organization and uncover opportunities and challenges for partner communities. The final output is a pre-validated report that provides detailed findings and actionable recommendations to help organizations leverage their strengths, address weaknesses, seize opportunities, and mitigate risks.
